Small-flowered buttercup is an annual introduced European species of buttercup that is found in North America along the west coast (British Columbia, Washington, Oregon and California) and in the southeastern US (USDA 2011). It was first reported from British Columbia in 2002 by Adolf and Oluna Ceska from a single location in the Victoria area (Ceska and Ceska 2002) and is now found in several locations. Habitat includes roadsides, fields, rocky pastures, dry soils and woods. In BC, it is found in vernal wet depressions (Flora North America 2011, Ceska and Ceska 2002, Tenaglia 2007). This is a small-flowered, spreading to decumbent (sometimes erect) species (to 40 cm tall) of buttercup. Leaves and stems are hairy, and leaves are both 3-5 lobed (lower) and simple (upper). It flowers in June in British Columbia.
